    Lol I'd say the opposite. The white gives it such a nice contrast and to me brightens the top and makes it pop.

    I would go with white or grey if you do not have your own preference because it is more timeless and neutral and will appeal to more people if you end up selling in the future.

    I like the stone look in pic #3. Neutral, but light and brings out the natural grain in the wood.

    I agree with William. The stone makes the woodgrain show and gives more of a pop.

    Personally I like the stone look tile in 3rd photo. Wood and stone together looks organic. And the color is neutral enough that it won't look dated.

    Totally agree, stone is the way to go. You will be painting it when those colors go out of style. If you like the blues use that as an accessory color. I used glass on my backsplash . I love the way it came out . Clean and fresh ,easy to keep it clean too.
