What's the optimum balance of water and sun exposure for basil?

Doing raised-bed gardening in NW Oregon, where current average temps are 75-80. I water the soil around the plants early-morning and after the sun goes down. However, basil looks wilted all the time.

Well-drained soil is good soil for basil. If you grow yours in containers the container itself needs to have good drainage holes. Keep the temperature fairly warm with lots of sunlight (at least six hours a day)
