What can be done with old oak baseboards under the kitchen counters?

The baseboards have been washed every time the floor has so they look awful now. They need a "pick me up", something easy that can take the abuse of being washed down every week, the wood certainly hasn't been happy about it!

I painted mine with a nice black paint.... makes them just kinda receed and disappear.

Is the wood damaged or just the finish? If it’s just the finish, you can sand, stain, and clear coat with a protective sealer. I would also redo the silicone caulk at the floor.

High-gloss paint, whatever color you think will go with the walls.

When I replaced my kitchen floor, I couldn't afford wood baseboards and they suggested rubber ones. They are very inexpensive, and I thought I'd replace them when I could afford to. Nope, I'm keeping them and that's all I'll ever use! I think they would be perfect for you. You might need to remove the wood ones first, so it won't be that easy, but the rubber ones just glue on with a baseboard caulk product.

I would suggest a light sanding and wiping them down, then using paint or gel stain depending on your preference. Use a good sealer and it should hold up well.
