Has anyone made an outddoor chair using an old cable spool?
Making an outdoor table from an old cable spool. I think it will look cool to make the chairs from cable spools also.

If you can get smaller ones, they would work as stools.
I'm currently making a stool from one of the circles on a cable spool. If the spool has a rigid support in the middle, it should be fairly sturdy. I took mine apart, because it was cardboard in the middle. They are fun to work with, aren't they? You can also mount wheels on them to make them more mobile. I purchased the legs for the project I'm working on now.
