I wasn't paying attention and accidently used silicone caulking on a door frame that I'm getting ready to paint. It's such a thin layer that I can't scrape it out. I know you're not supposed to caulk on top of caulk, which at this point feels like my only option to get the paint to adhere. Is there a chemical remover?
A good primer will stick to almost anything. Maybe try that first.
I second the idea of trying a good primer first!
Silicone is VERY resistant to things adhering... including paint. Try using a fine sandpaper first.
Nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol, Goo Gone, green kitchen scrubby. Sand paper just clogs up.
Are you not able to pull the piece off and try removing the silicone that way? Then just put it back on the wall?
