Where can I buy bitter melon seeds?

Question

Over the years I have planted bitter melon vines in my garden. Although the vegetable is bitter and might not be enjoyed by many, I have come to like it a lot. The seeds from last year which I planted this spring did not germinate. Now I cannot find seeds anywhere except on Ebay and those are coming from China. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the information @Douglas Hunt. The websites carry many of the Asian vegetable seeds. Unfortunately they were sold out. I was able to find another seller, this one in CA. I ordered the seeds and will have it here next week. Even if I get the produce for one month it would be worth it. Happy gardening!

You can go to an Asian Market or Multi-Ethnic grocery store and buy lots of veggies or fruits just for the seeds. Tubers of all types are also fun. Some of those hairy weird looking potatoes grow into elephant ears for example.

Asian stores have them.  Buy fresh fruits and save the seeds.

@Tien, Thanks for your suggestion. This post was done last summer. I purchased the seed on line and most of them germinated and gave me a fairly good crop. I saved some of the seeds so I'll be ready for this year. I was told that seeds from fruits and vegetables which were refrigerated cannot be used. And also, in order to get good seeds for germination the fruit or vegetable must reach it's maturity on the vine or plant. In the case of the bitter melon it would have to stay on the vine until it gets yellow then the fruit opens up and the red seeds are exposed. The seeds I saved were harvested at this point. I love the taste of bitter melon and look forward to planting again this summer. Stay warm in NY.
