Shampoo Bottle Vases

I have been using Trader Joe's Tea Tree Oil shampoo, conditioner and body wash for years so there have been a lot of empty bottles. I love the shape of these guys and I thought they would make some fun vases.
I wanted to be able to distress when they were painted so I painted the bottles black first.
Then I used green and yellow spray paint on them. Once they were dry they got a little bit of distressing. It turned out cute.
The next step was to add some fun embellishments. I am scrapbooker/card maker so I have a lot of paper flowers and brads. I stacked a couple of the flowers, held them together with a brad and adhered them to the bottles. I think it adds some fun and charm to them.

The little tags say "home grown" and "sweet" and are a free printable over on the blog post. All you have to do to get them is click on the blog link at the bottom of this post and find the download link. They have a sort of chalkboard - ish look and that is one of my favorite things.
Here is one of them a little bit closer up so you can see how cute they are.

If you aren't up-cycling any shampoo bottles at this time you can still download these and use them as tags for a fun plant gift, an herb garden tag, etc. There are a lot of possibilities.

The last thing I did was use some burlap ribbon around the top to cover the threaded plastic for the lid. Then these guys were ready for some flowers.
What do you think? I use them every spring and summer. They are perfect for us with the cats too. If they get knocked over they won't break!
