Yes, there are different types. There are airless, hvlp and high efficiency airless sprayers. Each type has distinct advantages. One of the biggest differences from using roller and brush is that most sprayers waist some paint in the cleanup process. Unless your paint is extremely limited, this is not an issue. Each sprayer has different tips and settings for different viscosities of paint and the desired finish, so it's extremely important to thoroughly test your equipment and paint before starting the project. That being said, all of the cleanup and setup time is offset by a very fast painting time. One more thing, you will need to tape edges and even use paper shield. Again, it's usually worth the time and effort for the end results.
