How do you get rid of scale?

I have white sticky goo on my azaleas, I believe is scale. I had this last year, and now it’s back again. I sprayed with dormant spray last year which, didn’t seem to completely get rid of it. Do you think this harbored over winter, and never went away?

I'm a bit confused. Can you show some pictures? Scale and sticky goo are two descriptions that don't seem to go together. Try contacting Texas A&M agricultural website. Azaleas are prolific in Texas and the South. Be sure to send them pictures.

You may have lace bug. To 1 cup vegetable oil to 1 teaspoon plain dish soap that has no anti-bacterial or other additives. Formula is 2 tablespoons to 1 cup hot water. Spray. Make a new batch each time. If this does not work, use Neem oil.
