  • How are the floor joists? If those are ok all you have to do it tear the old out, then measure, cut, and screw the new piece into place. Easy peasy

Why would you want to replace the sub floor? How old is the house? The older the house the denser the wood will be (1900's vs 1990's).

Demo flooring and existing subfloor down to floor joists. The subfloor was likely put on the entire floor not room by room. We used a sawzall to cut it back to the room edges. Then shored up any damaged joists by adding sisters. Also added joists around the perimeter edges to have wood to nail new subfloor to. Stagger your joints. A link is attached on sistering. Check youtube for subfloor replacement How to’s. Hope this helps

We replaced the subfloor in an older mobile home because it was warped. Just pulled up the old (it was particle board) and replaced it with plywood.
