What is the best way to clean brick floors?
We recently purchased a home that has real brick floors in the foyer, hall and sunroom - not sure whether to damp mop with only water, use a special cleaner, etc.?
Toothpaste or soda.
plain white toothpaste
Have you tried using boiling water with pieces of aluminum foil in it? It just takes seconds to brighten your silver or it did for me. I cleaned silverplate pieces using this method.

White toothpaste actually works surprisingly well!
Line your kitchen sink with aluminum foil (do not use cheap), shiny side up. To 1 gallon hot water add 1 cup salt and 1 cup baking soda. Stir to mix. Put in silver. Let rest for 15-30 minutes. Remove and immediately rinse. Use silver polish and and buff to a shine. The silver polish puts a coating on to retard tarnishing. Repeat process as needed. Always, always rinse after removing from hot water solution.
I personally don't like the DIY things. Hubs and child once insisted on the foil and salt/soda thing and I got splotches on the silver. If you have antique silver just go to the store and buy a good quality silver polish (Wright's or TarnX) - don't risk ruining a valuable possession.
