i gave up and had mine removed, the ice maker that is. It was connected to a water supply that was supplying softened water. My family has a history of heart disease, I have a hearing/ balance issue called meniers disease. Both issues are agrvateted with sodium level that is normal for most folk.
The filter may need to be replaced if you are sure the water is flowing into the line from the outside.
