Childrens tables

Debra
by Debra
I have a childs table with two chairs and I am looking for some input on how I should paint it with some kind of design on it. I am going to be selling it when I am finished. It is an oblong table, so not square and not round. Very cute with a scallop edge under the table lip. Any suggestions ?????

Just going on your description, I'd make it look like a flower with the top painted like the center of the flower and scallops like the petals. The legs could be painted green for stems.

@Debra, you could make it really easy by painting the top yellow with darker yellow/orange dots all over it as the flower center. The rest would all be solid colored.

There's a new paint on the market, it's got chalk in it, you don't need to sand off the old paint and once used, you only need one coat and it dries in 20 minutes

@Moira McCullough Hi, yes I am very familiar with the chalk paints that are out there. I have even made my own homemade kind, Home Depot and Michaels are now selling it as well. It is a little different then the Ann Sloan brand but is cheaper and easier to get rather then through the mail. Thank you for your comment.

I think I would do chalk board paint. You can get it in colors now. What kid wouldn't love to be able to write on a table and not get in trouble?

Another thought which, my girls would have loved is a table for Lego's. Glue the flat bases that comes with them in a big square in the middle of the table for them to build upon. Then paint the table and chairs to color coordinate with the Lego colors. Be good for a boy or a girl. The photo shows the base that I am talking about.

I make benches out of children's tables. Add cushioning on top and stable the fabric of your choice on the underside.

What about blackboard paint on top so they could draw on it? Or router out a large part of the center about 1/8-1/4" deep, glue a set of big size Legos on it, then further hold them in place with molding...it could be a Lego table! By the time they get to the age of liking the smaller ones, they won't be using this table.

It is just a table set I want to paint then sell it. My husband and I have started to do flea markets and I paint small pieces of furniture that I save from the land fill. The are usually in need of some kind of repair or paint job. So I want this table to be able to work for a girl or boy that is why I am a little stumped. I have done a few in the past that were for a girl, and for a boy so this I want it to be for either.

@Debra, you are correct in that it didn't show. How did you go about posting it and from what kind of device?
