Can we "renew" this cloth patio umbrella?

Is there any way we can cover over the cloth of this beautiful big patio umbrella with something that would withstand the summer weather elements? We hate having to take it down every day because it is so big, not to mention that having to do that takes away from enjoying using it.

Unfortunately over time the umbrella has faded, plus there are a couple of small holes in it.

Thanks.

Hi Eleonora, We have a screen porch with fabric top too. I have wanted to make a new top for a couple years. Here's how I plan to do it: take down the current fabric "roof" and use it as a pattern to cut new outdoor fabric into sections. I want to sew these sections to each other with double stitched pockets that I can feed framework thru. My roof will stay in place the entire summer season. Will take down in the Fall. I have put some time into thinking about creating this new roof and I hope my plan helps you. Good luck.

If the fabric is still in good shape, how about giving it a good scrubbing, let it dry for a day, & give it a coat or 2 of an exterior house paint.

Hi..there are just a couple of small holes that I believe are patchable. Never thought of using exterior house paint...that would be the easier way to go. Thank you.

You can frequently find replacement covers for the umbrellas.

When you do get the new cover there are spray on water repellants some have u v blockers that will extend the life of the umbrella. If you know who manufactured the umbrella you might be able to talk with coustomer service about a replacement cover.

Do you know the brand? Perhaps there is a sticker somewhere that has some information on it. That would be the easiest, otherwise, you could search for the size you need and find one that is like yours.
