Have someone you know and trust install them. Maybe someone from your church or group or club. Call Senior Services. They should have a list of handymen that are trust worthy and dependable. I prefer curtains myself. I like to be able to throw them in the washing machine. And Walmart cheapies make it affordable to change the look every 5 years or so. Got a pair of insulated curtains for my bathroom (very large window) for less then $20.
It is not that hard to hang a curtain rod. Even if you hire help, these will come in handy.

I have double rods on almost all my windows - sheers and curtains. I prefer curtains as they are easy to make, purchase and wash. Ez off Ez on.
We have shades at all windows despite what type of curtain is over them. Shades are easy to install even if they have to be done initially. They are window covering when you want to move and take curtains. The are extra insulation on cold Maine winters. They shield the sun in the morning and the moon at night LOL. However none of our windows have only shades but they could have and you would then still have covering.
I’d ask friends at church, etc, about a local designer who does good work at a fair price. Who also understands that Lowe’s has a great selection of blinds at reasonable prices. If they can be bought off the rack rather than custom-made.
Ask for photos of her work. Some designers tend to over-design. You want window treatments, not a complete redo, though he/she might recommend a little furniture rearrangement, which could be great. We do tend toget in a rut.
