Is the ceiling textured? if so Homex makes ceiling texture in spray cans in various textures. If the ceiling is smooth, use primer first and then repaint.

Kilz stain blocking primer. In a pinch I have used Elmer's white glue.
thanks everyone , these are very helpful ideas.
Let it completely dry out and then put Stain Bloc on top before letting that dry before painting.
