Cover it so it can't be seen? If that is the case a roll up bamboo bind would do the trick. You could make a screen using cloth and a wood frame hanging from eye hooks if you want to remove it and use the space.

  • Take this photo and measure the opening carefully. You can purchase a door and hinges and paint to match. Any home improvement store will have several to choose from, or you can make your own.

You could use a spring loaded curtain rod and tea towel or piece of material. You could try a bamboo (matchbook) roll-up shade cut to the right size. A framed picture or piece of art that is the size of the opening on hinges. A decorative chinese carved wooden screen. String beads or small sea shells to the right length and hang side by side for the right width. A lot depends on your decor, where the opening is located, how much access you need, and your personal taste. Just brainstorm and look around your house or Goodwill, yardsales, antique shops, etc for something that would work. Good luck!

You could find a door to fit it easily. You could also put in some shelves to add the storage space that would be usable in the cabinet.

trim to cover the edges of the space plus the box that is in it. Paint the trim after using wood or Gorilla glue to attach the trim, and use long narrow nails where needed. Less visibility but still accessible for the cable boxes. 〽️☺️
