Thos past week there was an West Elm knockoff challenge. I had no idea what West Elm was, so off to google I went... I could not believe how expensive the items were, and nothing called to me to create. I ended up on WayfaIr. And I found a item that I could make using dollar store items. On Wayfair the item was $26 + shipping. I spend $8! Don't be scared to create a knockoff, the results can be amazing!
I gathered up all my supplies. Dollar store rocks, artificial flowers, paint, stencil brush, and Mason jar. The stencil was a gift free from Hometalk a couple of months ago. And wood plaque was bought at a local craft store for $4.
Cut baby breath flowers from the bundles. I varied the lengths so when put in Mason jar would give a better look. Placed off to side For later.
Here is the Wayfair item for $26... not exactly what my project is to a T. But it gave me the idea and inspiration to create my own.
I grabbed my free stencil and blue grey paint. Stenciled on all 4 corners lightly. Allowed to fully dry.
How the stencil looked after all corners done on wood plaque.
Once paint dry. Took my dollar store Mason jar and got my glue gun. Applied a good amount of hot glue on the flattest side of the jar...just make sure the glue is nice and hot, as hot as a low temp glue gun will get...
Picked the best side of the stenciled plaque and pushed the warm glu side on. I was pleasantly surprised how awesome it held on the metal.
Here is the jar glued on the plaque. I let it cool then filled with dollar store people rocks. I filled about 3-5" of the jar with the rock.
Then added my baby breath I had cut earlier.
Finished product all set to be hung up. I am more than pleased with my knock off.
