A FAMILY FRIENDLY LAKESIDE RETREAT CRAFTED WITH ARTICLES AT HAND!

Spending summer at my Grandparents New England cottage was the highlight of my childhood. The fondest of memories were made as we swam in the clear blue lake from sun up to sun down, the best of lunches from the roadside hotdog stand and evenings of boardgames and roasting marshmallows. We do live waterside but not a lake, seaside with the boating recreation and swimming at our fingertips so I thought I would turn our living room into vintage lake house style. So I packed up all the roosters and wreathes etc. and crafted for 3 days and made some lake décor out of things that I had at hand.
Just like Grams coffee table almost, a mini chalkboard to remind us of morning camp, candles some crafted old books that I painted and renamed, a lantern and a bucket of maps. Maps were a great way to spread the lake house look. I used them on the tables, rolled up, and also the walls and covered a fun lamp shade with them.
I made alott of these fish from plain material that I painted then gave them a coat of sealer to stiffen themand added button eyes.
I placed some maps and a fishnet on the wall . I crafted this ice house sign out of scrap wood and what would summer be with out some cold cokes in the bottle that is.
I crafted these two signs of scraps also a boat paddle sign and a lake house one along with some vintage beach pictures from yesteryears. Below is President Washington cottage.
A bucket hold faux fishing pole made from an od mop handle and attached is one of my fish .
An old tee-shirt was used to make the lakeside garland
I had this old fish pillow that was bleached out from washing so I gave him some paint and two new button eyes, I may have gone too far with him he has been named the "River Monster" by the kids.
A blueberry Island sign , had to make this it has such a great story with it, About 10 of us would paddle on a truck tire tube out to the island and pick blueberries the size of dimes.
An old straw beach hat was given some life
I placed some white lights behind an old shutter made a swim sign and a life preserver.
The lampshade made from maps and I took a boating rope made some nautical knots and just swooped it over the shade for fun. Come join me a Sweet Tea N' Salty Air for some more lake house fun.
