I would like the half railing on the deck more private without screaming "I don't like you and I don't want to see you!" to the world.

Run Balcony Shading around for privacy or expanding Fence with artificial foliage or Use Roll of Brushwood or bamboo........

While you're at it, install wind chimes. They drive at least half the population bonkers. The other half may wave and say how pretty and relaxing they are... and you'll find out maybe not all the world is detestable.🙂Or, you could move to a rural area like I did. The windows are open and the sparrows are singing. 😉

Sorry it took me so long to respond. Love your ideas, especially the one about moving to a rural area. I think we'll just leave the deck as is. We have nice neighbors and we put out a bunch of Clematis this year, so we see beauty and so do the passer-by. Enjoy your rural life, I did for over 50 year, until circumstances moved me into the city.

Having a private balcony also can also say ' Because I am a considerate neighbour, I am arranging the space so that you do not have to look at me and all my stuff all the time.'

Excellent insight! Flabby, old people can be pretty revolting in their natural form.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but sometimes it's better that the eye be nearsighted.

Ah, circumstances forced you to move and you're unhappy? There's a huge difference between waking to robins singing and garbage trucks rumblings. Perhaps softly listening to your favorite could soften the sounds and soothe your heart?
