How to replant herbs in ground and prune?

I just bought two little basil and rosemary plants from my local Wal-Mart's produce section, mainly because I read they can help detour pest from around my patio and like areas of the yard. Well now that I have them how do I put them in the dirt? I'm mainly concerned with the pruning process of them, (basil, rosemary, and now a mint plant😳) do I trim them down beforehand or just put them in the ground as is? Can all three plants grow and flourish if planted within the same area? I'm obviously a gardening newbie, so any directions and advice is welcomed! Thanks everyone and happy crafting!!
You want to turn over the ground you're putting them in, amend the soil to meet your local conditions and add some fertilizer and a little epsom salts to help the roots of the plants take in the soil. Then you plant them "as is." If you trim them down, you'll just kill them. put them in the ground as is and water well, do not prune. The rosemary will probably get pretty large depending on the type of rosemary and if you are in the lower states where we don't get too cold of a winter (zone 9). The basil will get probably around 1 or 2 foot high. The mint you need to be careful with, mint is very invasive. I planted some about 2 years ago from a small container and it has spread over 15'. The area that it is in I don't mind because it is a traffic area and i love the smell of mint when crushed when walking through it. It is easy to pull up but just be aware it is a rapid spreader. All of them like full sun. The rosemary needs the least amount of water but will need some to get established again depending on your part of the country it will live year after year. The basil likes water and so does the mint. The mint can sit in water but the basil needs to have the water drain off. Good luck!
you can plant them in a large container with potting soil.Keep the mint separate as that will take over the other herbs
they can be planted in the same area. Just give some distance between the plants (I would try to leave a foot if you have it, they will grow). Rosemary will be tallest probably so put in back, basil will be next, then the mint. This is assuming the sun will be approximately in the front.
watch out for the mint, it can be very invasive. might want to put it in a nice plant pot, this way it stays contained to the pot.
