What are the items that make you smile when you see them? Wich bring back the good times when you see them? Did a special person give you any? Those you keep. The others, put in storage. Rotate by season.

I highly recommend the book, The Magic of Tidying Up, by Marie Kondo. It is the best book I have ever read to help you think about your stuff. I am a very organized person and I learned so much from her. The book is short and easy to read. Before you invest money in shelving or any other storage, spend the $10 for this book. You can get it on Amazon or in any bookstore or probably your library. You can also download it. It helps you really think about your possessions in a very different way. After reading her book, I got rid of 29 large bags of stuff from my personal clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc. She also covers papers, mementos, kitchen, and every area of your home.

Keep what you love..... sell, gift, donate the rest.... making room in your life for new things. Display is dependent on what the collectibles are? I like the glass and chrome etageres for my shell and rock, and glass collections cause the items stand out on them.... https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/mercury-row-coss-etagere-bookcase-mcrw3219.html wayfair has a good selection.

If they are larger pieces, Ikea has a great Kallax bookcase that has lots of cubbies for displaying items.... https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50301543/ comes in 4 colors

Ikea also has lots of display cabinets.... https://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=Cabinets+%26+display+cabinets

Hi Pamela, If the job of decluttering seems overwhelming, just tackle a room at a time, or even a section of a room at a time. Start with small goals. You can accomplish more this way.

If you haven't worn or used it in a year, isn't a seasonal decoration you use almost every year, or isn't a special memento or heirloom, donate it to salvation army or somewhere where it will be used by someone who needs it.

Pick out one item at the time and ask yourself if you saw this in a store, would I buy it now? If the answer is no, then you probably need to let it go.
