Homemade water globe using a plastic water bottle:

  • How long will you be gone? I have put mine in the bathtub(s) and sinks and watered really well aka drowned and in a closed up house they are good for a week or so.

Do you have a family member or friend that can come in and check on things for you? Take in mail, pick up newspapers, water plants?

    • You are so welcome! I live in a very similar climate and understand completely. For a week they should be just fine. Enjoy your vacation! 🌞

Empty 2 liter coke bottles. Fill them and turn them upside down putting the opening into the soil. You will need to hold the upright, so I use bricks in a v shape along the edge

I've done the same as Naomie, and also use water globes. I haven't tried doing this for more then a week.

A micro-irrigation (Drip System) on a Timer or Fill a 2 Liter Coke Bottle with water, Attach a Plastic Water Spike, Flip Upside Down & Insert into Plant. It should cover the watering needs for up to 3 weeks depending on size of plant.

Yes to all the answers. But if you don't want to soak them in a bath incase you over water, then use plastic trays with pebbles in fill with water, then put the pots on top. The plants should draw the water up. I would still use the globe's or bottle idea as well but this idea will give you extra.
