Do any of you have an ingenious idea for storing all your owner's manuals in one, convenient place? My plastic shoe box is stuffed!

  • I have them in my file cabinet in my office. Yes, they take up a lot of space. I recently went through the file as I was donating a bunch of items and wanted to provide the owners manual with the appliance. Also in the same drawer are warranties.

Throw them out. You can get them online.

I just threw out a ton. I think that most things are on the internet now.

Keep them in a file box. If you resell them, they are worth more with the manuals. Also include them when you donate - it makes the charity more money. Also stable the sales slips in the event they break before the warranty is up. I would NEVER throw them away as long as you own the item. Companies go out of business, and you may not get them on the internet. You should have a file cabinet or file box for your household. Just set a file for these.

Ditto on the file drawer storage except that I place all paperwork about the new item and any replacement parts/screws etc. that come with it, into either a one gallon or two gallon ziplock plastic bag before placing in the file cabinet.

Agreed! Many items come with extra parts, and fittings for different applications.

I put them in page protectors in a large 3 ring notebook. I also make a copy of the sales slip/invoice & put with the warranty for proof of age of the item.
