Microwave Cleaning Hack Using Vinegar

Hate cleaning out your microwave? You're not the only one. Luckily, there's an easy way to make the whole process a lot easier, and all you'll need is water, vinegar, and a microwave-safe container - plus a cloth to wipe down the microwave at the end.
I grabbed a glass jug and filled it with 100ml of distilled white vinegar, plus 100ml of water. You want to make sure that the container isn't filled too high, just in case any of the liquid bubbles up later.
Next, simply pop your container of water and vinegar in the microwave, and heat on full power for around five minutes.
Keep a close eye on the microwave to make sure the liquid isn't boiling over. The exact heating time will vary according to the power of your microwave, so the first attempt is always a bit of an experiment.
The mixture of vinegar and water will release steam which helps to loosen and dissolve any stains inside the microwave, without the need for scrubbing with harsh chemicals.
When the time's up, don't open your microwave right away - leave it closed for around five minutes to give the steam more time to work.
Then, carefully remove the container, taking care not to burn yourself.
Finally, wipe down all the surfaces of the microwave using a soft, damp cloth. The stains should be easily removed thanks to the magic of steam!
You'll be left with a microwave that's clean, shiny, and ready to use again.
This method works great whether you've got a brand new Sharp Carousel microwave, or a 10-year old microwave that's seen better days. Some discoloration might remain on older microwaves, but this isn't a major issue.
For microwaves with lots of stubborn stains, you can repeat this process multiple times.

I wonder if this will work in the oven as well?

Vinegar is an acid! And will corrode/rust metal if not sooner, than later. The fumes from the vinegar will penetrate all the small places in a m/wave. Not a good idea, at all!!! All you have to do is just wipe down with a barely damp cloth with a tad amount of detergent after each and every spill, and wipe dry. A minute is all it should take. No need to use acidic agents.

I done this on my last microwave and it rusted under the carousel. I thought it was the way I was cleaning it so with my next one I didn't clean it that way. It has rusted too. I dry it very good after cleaning. I don't let it get very messy. What am I doing wrong?
