It is metallic right? If you are going with a light grey I would consider a silver, tremclad or Rustoleum make a nice silver paint

A nice creamy yellow would look good. Or are you brave and want a slash of color? What color are the cabinets and appliances?

I have the same paneling and wish to replace, but if i were to keep it and to paint, here are the steps I would follow: Thoroughly, deeply clean with either soap that removes grease or TSP; sand with medium grit sandpaper; prime then paint - use compatible primer with the paint of your choice. Allow to dry thoroughly before wiping clean - about a week to 10 days.

Since this is a metal backsplash, oil and alkyd paints are the most durable. Good luck.

I would take it outside and spray paint it. A pretty turquoise color and then sand some parts of it to see some of that copper color come through. I think it would look pretty with the light gray color on the walls, but that’s just my opinion. I love the look of copper though, but too much of it, I understand why you’d want to change it.

Paint your walls first. It looks like there is a bit of grey in the backsplash. You might like how it goes. I painted my walls a darker grey and I have builders grade carpet that is in a sort of a brown, tan, grey color. (Couldn't afford new carpet). I am so pleased with the outcome. Wouldn't think it would go that well, but it does. I really like it. A grey carpet would be too much grey.
