Best way to install pallet wall for easy removal later?

We are planning a pallet wall in my daughter’s kitchen. I have seen them installed with strong glues like PL premium but I’m concerned if she wants to change her decor later she will be having to change the drywall. Has anyone got another way to do it that won’t ruin the drywall underneath? Also it can’t go all the way from the bottom because of the baseboard heater being on that wall so it will be only the upper portion and I need a way to start it: I was thinking a piece of molding at 3’ high. Thoughts?

Plywood or MDF panel screws into studs over wallboard. Way fewer holes in wallboard.

thanks, 1/4" plywood was an option but my daughter didn't care for the edges showing, but maybe we can trim that out...

Absolutely. By the way, . Ive often seen it suggested that the surface, your plywood, be painted black or dark brown before installing the boards so that it is truly background. Doesn’t have to be pretty or perfect. Or maybe just a dark “wash”.
