Can I use catnip in my plants to prevent mosquitoes?

I know I could grow catnip plants to help keep away mosquitoes, but would sprinkling dried catnip around my other plants work the same way? Thanks and have a great day

Great if you don't cats around plants. They will tear up area where sprinke catnip.
