Should I paint these cabinets white or cottage green?

These are my dark knotty pine kitchen cabinets at our cottage. My plan is to keep top set open, white outside, cottage green inside. My question is. Should I paint outside of lower white or cottage green. (Above I'm painting white outside and green inside(

Maybe you should paint both upper and lower cottage green and then just white on the inside. I do like white cabinets when I see them in other kitchens but I tried it in my own and then went with just the white on the inside. Sorry to give you another idea to think about!

That is a very tough decision :) I would get a sample of both and put a little bit on your cabinets. Leave it there for a week and hopefully that will help you decide.

The counter top color needs to be considered when choosing the cabinet colors. From your picture, I would do the green on the outside of both upper and lower cabinets with a lighter shade of the same green for the upper interior. The counters look like they would not work with white at all (may just be the picture), but you could use white as an accent in curtains and accessories. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I personally love the wood feel of cabinets in a cabin :) If its light your searching for maybe you could consider removing the cabinets since a cabin doesn't require too many dishes etc. and extend the window space by simply using the cabinet wood to create shelves which allow more light around the area? Maybe paint the counter tops and wall for a brighter effect instead too? I'm sure whatever you decide it will look great though.

How about white on the outside and take the doors off some and paint the insides green?

OK well, personally it's a cottage these look original, why spend money, but you asked for specific help so here goes my thought. I would paint a lighter shade of the same green you are going to use on bottom, just on the paint chip card follow it up or down to you get to a lighter color and that's what I would use on the upper outdide, on the inside I would stick with a pale cream only cause your counter looks like it's in that warmer tone and white might scream at you. If you are doing this to lighten your space green will keep it just as dark. If you want to bring outside in then it should do that but remember that it's a lot of work to do and you will still have a dark kitchen.
