Recently we moved home - our cavernous, relatively new, modern wardrobes did not take kindly to being dismantled ready to be rebuilt. Left in a position of no wardrobes this time around I was determined to find second-hand furniture, made from quality sturdy wood.
The bedroom future was sourced from a second-hand shop, reduced as it had been up for sale for some time. Much as I love the set as it is the beautiful walnut wood is just not our style. Having researched chalk paint, milk paint and fusion mineral paint I chose fusion mineral paint fo the flat brush mark free finish.
In order to achieve the best result, I spent time removing doors and drawers. Although you can use the paint without sanding, due to the high sheen I carefully sanded and result I spent time removing doors and drawers. Although you can use the paint without sanding, due to the high sheen I carefully sanded and cleaned down the furniture.
The doors are mounted on tin cans so I can reach the edges of the doors, indoors so as not to catch any fly's on the wet paint.
Using two tones of paint the furniture shapes are highlighted subtly. I left 24 hours between coats of paint. I am delighted with the finished result.
The difficult bit of the project was choosing colours!
