You could make a peekaboo sensory board for the kids to open and feel different textures. I saw an example where the tops glued onto a board with things like carpet and sandpaper hiding under the pop open flaps.
You can use fabric glue and glue some fabric onto the flip top and then glue the ends. It creates a small bag that you and use to carry food, money, or other small items.
Using the same idea as the sensory board you could also reuse the lids to make an advent countdown calendar.
