Hot tubs are fine in unprotected, "open to the sky" areas. I hope that's what you mean when you say uncovered. Make sure you have a well insulated lid on the tub to cover it when not in use. Because of heat loss in cold winter climates the tub will run a lot. Expect much higher energy bills as a result.

Definitely can use an outdoor hot tub in winter. That's our favorite time to use ours. You would need to invest in a good cover though.

I am sure that someone around your area sells hot tubs..... talk with them to find out how having a hot tub in the winter would work.... and I understand that there are wood fired ones available... that work just fine.

Yes, my cousin uses his in winter and posts photos of his winter hot tub use, and we live in Wyoming. I know our winters are worse.

Oh my gosh, you are so lucky to have this and use it in winter! The night sky is there for you to take in.

We have done this and just love the experience. It is nothing less than wonderful and truly magical.

We have especially enjoyed this in the middle of a snow storm or freezing rain. Bring on the bubbly and good company.

    Relax and savor.

My daughter has one in the Berkshires in New York State. I believe they all have tops and that they do use theirs in the wintertime.

I’m a native Iowan and yes, I’ve been in several hot tubs come winter.
