I would think you would need a heat resistant paint. Rustoleum makes a heat resistant spray paint that would work well but I think it only comes in black. You can find other heat resistant spray paints in a variety of colors like the ones here:
They are plastic so you can use any paint that adheres to plastic. However, they will loose their transparency. You can try lacquers to retain the transparency, but they are pricey and hard to work with. Good luck.
Luminaire candles, paint them and the light won't come through. I would try melting and coloring some wax and dip them from the top.... like an ombre candle. or for something unique you can also put pressed flowers and leaves on them, and dip in clear melted wax from the top down.
You could probably spray paint them, but I am wondering if Gallery Glass paints by Plaid or DecoArt transparent paints would work. Perhaps even watered down acrylic paints would be successful if they adhere.
They would allow the glow to show through. You could also decoupage them with pretty napkins. The tissue would allow the light to shine.
I have seen where you take pretty paper napkin, pull the napkin apart, as there are two thin sheets to one napkin. Using the printed sheet. Brush mod pod on candle, wrap the printed napkin on, no creases, then a coat of mod pod again. Look it up, pretty

Perhaps you could peel a colorful paper napkin apart and apply the thin paper with Modge Podge.
or just paint the 'base', and leave the top ( lighted ) part -- or cover with colored paper that you can change when you get tired of it
