I use a command hanger and hang wreaths from it in winter. They come in different styles for different weights.

Do not drill a hole. There are wreath holders made for this! They hang over the top of the door and hold the wreath at the right height. They come in various colors of metal and even clear plastic. You can find them at all craft stores and everywhere at Christmastime.

I use a Command Hook for my metal front door. The key is installing it per the instructions. They are available at nearly any store. Now they even come in clear or a stainless look rather than just the original white. Also come in different weight strengths too. Be sure to keep the pressure on the install side as long as the instructions say and wait for a day before you hang your wreath.

I agree. But I also use Velcro at the bottom so the wreath doesn’t swing and it takes some of the stress off the hook.

Dont screw around with steel $$$$ doors.

I wouldn't drill a hole. I would buy an over the door wreath hanger or use a stick-on hook like the ones Command makes.

I bought a wreath hanger that fits over top of my door and has a hook on end to hang wreath. cost about 3.00.

If you buy an over-the-door hanger, buy metal not plastic, since you have a heavy wreath. Make sure you buy the width for your door, too. I have used a large Command hook on my glass door, catching the hot West sun, and I have a heavy large year-round wreath. The hook has been through a year of Texas weather and is still holding strong. I’m going to add the Velcro as a stabilizer, though. ☺️

Pull one end of a long ribbon through wreath that matches your color, bring the ends together and tape with a strong tape at the top of the door. You can even use duct tape because nobody will see it. Do this to a lot of my wreaths!

tried it once and it came down pretty soon, tried it again with much stronger tape. hope it stays because it's a great solution!

Use a over the door wreath hanger... it is a flat metal hook that fits over the top of the door, then extends down to hold a wreath or.. whatever... most places like Michael's, Joann's or Hobby Lobby carry them all year long... they come in different finishes, silver, black, etc.... or paint it to match the door color.

thanks so much == have tried those over the door hangers and since it's a fairly new door, the seal is too tight for anything to fit in there. why didn't i ever think of using a ribbon???? what a fantastic idea, will do!!!!! thanks so much

I’ve used command strips for “outdoors” and the wreath hooks that go over the top. I’m a fan of clear plastic wreath hooks. Less scratching on any door paint and mine were adjustable in length.

  • They make wreath hangers that attach to the top of the door and hang down to hold the wreaths. That should work for you :)

thank you -- tried that but the seal on the door is so good there wasn't room, so used ribbon and tape instead. thanks again
