1. where do you all get these pallets mentioned all around this site?2. How do you get a bunch( 10-16) of cinderblocks from Home depot to your car, to your yard? They're so darned heavy- but I've seen 2 outdoor DIYcinderblock benches/beds on her that I'd love, so I'm motivated!

I get mine from our food store. I asked the manager if he had any pallets that he wasn't keeping and he told me, any time I see pallets out back I could feel free to take them. You should ask around by you. Many stores just have them picked up and thrown away. Might as well put them to good use! And the cinder blocks I just load up myself at Home Depot, and have my sons unload for me when I get home.

You can also look in the yellow pages for Pallets, or shipping companies. They have them and want to get rid of them.

Again... be very careful of the pallets you grab! I avoid food store pallets because they are sometimes sprayed with pesticides prior to shipping to keep bugs from the food even though it is boxed and wrapped... Look for the HT mark... etc. etc... Do your research so that no one gets sick....

Check with some of the shipping companies in your area, most of the time they are glad to get rid of them.
  • Ask at any grocery or hardware store. Our local ACE puts them by the dumpster if they are not marked for return and told me I can always grab any I see there. I see them for free on Craigslist a lot too.

Local grocery or hardware stores are usually happy to have you pick them up for free. Lowe's, Home Depot or other shipping companies.

Call and check out places - sometimes they GIVE THEM AWAY for free - or a minimal fee of like $5.00 each. Ace Hardware near me charges a $5.00 but there are a few stores in Marquette, MI where you can get them free. Check out appliance stores, furniture or even bulk grocery stores. I've tried Home Depot near me and they re-use theirs. Try Super One Foods or even local hospitals and/or pharmacies.

You can rent a van from the Home depot to take whatever you purchase there to your house like those cinder blocks. That would reduce the wear and tear on your vehicle and you could put all of the blocks you want in the van...
