How to make temporary steps?

Need ideas for temporary steps 3-4 inches high and sunken sidewalk slabs- Both are at the front door.

    Fill the gap with 12" by 12" by 2" concrete patio blocks. Stack them in anyway that works best.

    Perhaps cinder blocks, the half size.

    3" to 4" is an exceedingly shallow step. 7" to 8" is the norm. Temporary stairs would be best built using lumber. You don't even need treated lumber because construction lumber will easily last a year outside. Anything masonry would be too much work and expense for a temporary stairs. Heavy to install, heavy to remove.


    Sunken sidewalk will also be uneven so you cannot place anything on top to bring up the height. If it is individual patio blocks you need to dig them out and reset them with sand or gravel under. If it is poured concrete, removal and replacement is the only real option. Gravel will make a temporary walkway.
