Starburst Wreath

My daughter and I decided the front porch needed a mini makeover and that included a fresh wreath for the front door. Some reclaimed wood, paint. paint can lid and screws were all I needed to create this fresh, summery starburst wreath.
Bright colors inspired from my new front door mat scream summer!
I started by randomly cutting reclaimed 1x2's different lengths. When I laid the wood out I had cut the perfect amount of boards for my wreath--that is when you know a project is meant to be ;).
I painted the boards fun, sunny colors and then gave them a light sanding.
I screwed the boards into a paint can lid from behind. Be sure to check out the full tutorial on the blog to see what NOT to do!! http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2014/05/5-projects-in-week-project-1-starburst.html
I used a D ring to hang up the wreath--it makes me smile when I arrive home.
I love how the boards come together to form a + and a loose circle--reminds me of the sun.
I am creating 4 more projects this week--come join the fun! http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/
