How do I box in metal center porch post supports?

These supports are about 2-2.5 inches across screwed to 5.5 inch flanges
Top of post attached to underside of porch roof beam.
Are you looking to conceal them?
Is it possible to box them in using 2x4 treated top to bottom boards? By nailing 3 pieces in a U shape then slipping them in place and then screwing the last one in place? Then if needed install cedar in a finishing manner.
There are some really good, simple videos on youtube.
If I did it: 1) scrape off all that loose paint. 2) Put at least one coat of paint on the square at top and bottom. They look a little rough. The square at bottom looks in bad shape. You may want to consider replacing it; or at least putting in caulk to fill the cracks. 3) Box in by attaching boards to each other and that square that is at top and bottom. Either 1/4" or 1/2" thick. 3) Paint with same color as trim to match house. Exterior Semi Gloss unless you want a lot of shine.
Deanna Nassar has the right idea. I would replace the bottom square of wood. It is in bad shape. The top one is pretty good. Use boards and nail them to the top and bottom squares to box in the pipe.
FYI they sell premade post covers that would probably make job easier. You can find or order from home store,if you can go with cedar since it's a natural insect repellent and allow it to weather naturally it doesn't need paint.
