I have had great luck with a product called Repels All, it stopped them from eating my tomatoes and stopped the deer also.
Hang them from shepherd's hooks, you may have to put a circular guard on the post (like a 12 in diameter table about 3 ft up from the ground a cheap pizza pan will work) blocks them from climbing the post... and high enough they can't jump onto it.
We have 3 ft tall garden boxes made of wood.... I bought 24 inch metal flashing and stapled it around the top edge of the boxes.... the little boogers can climb the wood but can't get a grip on the flashing and get into the boxes... we used some of it on our fruit trees too... just trim off any low branches.
