We have a wooden privacy fence and it is time to replace.Advice?

We live at the bottom of a hill and our soil is clay. We have a lot of issues with the posts heaving and needing replaced every couple of years. We are thinking a rock wall/flower bed with some privacy fencing (we all have at least one of those neighbors) but don’t necessarily want posts in the ground. Something mounted or supported within the rock bed/wall. Any suggestions?

I want framed lattice for my next privacy fence. They could be attached to the top of your rock or stone 'wall' or made freestanding by making 'feet' for the panels and placing them as wish. You can also hold them in place with tent pegs or straps and lawn pegs.

If your neighbor is opposed to posts... ask them to share the cost of a block wall.... or put in metal posts and put them JUST INSIDE your side of the property line... that way it is YOUR fence and they can't attach or hang anything on it without your permission.

Note: there are special brackets made to attach 2x4 wooden frame work to a round metal post... then just use what ever fencing you want.... set the posts in concrete for longevity.

What if you use post spikes, instead of trying to put new posts in?
