I tried to clean this grout and chalk that's old and yucky. Nothing works. Should I peel chalk off and put new chalk on? And paint on grout?
That happened once in a women's restroom at one of our office buildings. We talked with the janitor and she poured bleach down the drain for a couple of days she said and it finally cleared up. Could you do this?

I had a similar problem with a horrible odor in the bathroom and there were flies when the plumber removed the toilet. There is a problem in my sewer line. The plumber snaked it and then went on the roof because he could not find the outside "clean-out". He thinks it is a temporary solution and I may need to address the sewer line in the bathroom which means jack hammering the floor. Not the way I wanted to get a remodel.
Pour a bucket of water down the drain. Sometimes these drains don't get used a lot and so the water sitting in the drain gets stagnant and stinks. Maybe may it a weekly routine to pour a couple of gallons of water into it. After doing this, maybe add a few drops of essential oils you like.

Bleach has worked on mine. It's OK to see a little water down in the drain.

The cleaning company I worked for used bleach. Another option is dump baking soda down the drain and add equal amount of boiling water. Let sit for 15 minutes and dump more hot water Repeat if needed.
Squeaze some Dawn dish liquid down the drain. Then pour about 1/3 box of baking soda down follow with some vinegar until it foams up. Let it sit for about an hour. If you can get in there with a toilet brush scrub a little. Then pour a bucket of hot water down the drain to flush the mixture through. Then pour some bleach down the drain and leave it alone.
thank you all ( the drain hole is in the basement floor) do I do the same thing?
Yes, do the same thing. Any of the options. Also see if the drain is holding some water to block odors
