i have a large 4 door cabinet that was taken down front laundry room. I want to make it a rolling bar with a stone top on it to match our stone we had put on the house. With the stone and weight of the cabinet I think it will weigo about 60 pounds. Any suggestions on size of caster rollers, I plan to use 6 rollers.

  • Thats not too heavy, especially for 6 rollers. You can use whatever size you think will look best

The size of the caster depends on the look you want. Even a well made caster that's small can hold a distribution of 60# in weight. The casters are marked on their packing the total weight they can carry. (I recommend you get wheels that will hold at minimum 100#). Make sure you get an easy roll and ones that lock in place. Good luck.

Remember.... you will be putting stuff in those cabinets.... and that stuff will add weight... also.... wheels or casters can be decorative too or part of the design.... I would also put a piece of 3/4 inch plywood as a base for the whole thing... it will distribute the entire weight better

I think with a stone top its gonna weigh hundred or more pounds. I would get a more industrial set of wheels with 2 having a lock. You may also need to beef up the internal support of the cabinet to hold stone weight.

Make sure you get the type that spins and has locks on them. Get the kind that has the metal bracket, the ones with plastic wheels fall apart after you roll it around a few times. I use the metal bracket ones with the hard rubber wheels. There are even ones with clear silicone wheels that would look nice.
