Then I added a bit of color.
Curb appeal was lacking, I thought. So I wanted to dress it up a bit.
I created a larger flower bed in front and outlined it with white border bricks. I also outlined the oak tree and put a few flowers in there.
this is the extended flower bed. Had to fill in with several cubic feet of dirt.
Border around tree as a guide for where I wanted the white brick.
Another shot of the front flower bed. I extended it out a full foot and a half.
Removed grass on side of the house. Moved gate to the back of the house. I outlined the rock area with white bricks as well. I have pavers laid out in the stones.....as stepping stones. Need to get a pic of that.
Standing at the back of the house, you can see the gate was all the way up at the front part of the house. I wanted the side of my home exposed to the street. It makes the house appear a bit larger; moving the gate to the back of the house.
Suggested materials:
  • Shovel, rake, pick   (Lowes)
  • White bricks, mulch, dirt, sand   (Lowes)

Looks much better with your improvements. May I suggest hostas? Both under the tree and down the side of the house. Or pots of flowers on top of the gravel, maybe inbetween the hostas.

First of all, I congratulate you on such an acquisition. It is always a joy to move to a new home, especially if the purchase has been long overdue. After all the changes made to your home, it looks very good, neat and comfortable. I still bought a house recently, and eventually, to avoid the situation you faced, so as not to perfect anything at home, I decided to turn to newcastle surveyors. I told their team all my wishes and my demands for the future house, and they started searching. Once we found the house, they evaluated it and decided if it was worth the money or not.

A lot of houses nowadays look bland. This problem is evolving because people don't want to use services for making a house plan. This idea of not consulting a specialist could lower the value, the quality, and the design of your house. I would recommend finding a reliable professional who can help, like boutiquehomeplans.com. I have personally made some changes to my house to grow the house's value and am very happy with the results. Keep in mind that it is unnecessary to build your house in America; other countries have much cheaper materials and prices. Take your time and give it some thought.
