Preen in the spring before the weeds start popping up, plus mulch--the weeds will grow up through the mulch and it is easy to pull them up by the roots. A little spray here and there with Round Up also helps but be careful not to get any on your garden plants.

  • unfortunately there is no 100% way to get rid of weed, good old hand pulling is great, vinegar as a weed killer works (but can also kill other plants too), and lining the beds before you plant to prevent weeds from coming through the bottom helps. It is something you have to chip away at over time, nothing is a permanent solution.

  • Put down paper bags, newspaper, or cardboard and cover with mulch. The weeds can't get through and the paper is good worm food. It will eventually break down and enrich the soil further

I clean my garden out so that it is as weed free as I can get it. As I clean a section, I apply Preen Weed Preventer after I plant, then go to the next section, etc. Once done I cover it with a much of shredded leaves and later cut grass and renew it when needed to help keep out weeds. It has me down to just a few minutes a week to take care of tree seeds that are sprouting, and weeds that are root born like creeping charlie

spray bottle and treat weeds at the hottest time of day for best results.
