The drainage tap is the one near the bottom and has the ability to have a hose attached. Shut off power and turn off water to the unit.

Your water heater should have a connection for a water hose, which you run outside of your house for the water you are draining.

    1. Turn off the gas or electricity to the water heater.

Close the cold water supply valve coming into the water heater.

Attach a garden hose to the drain at the bottom of the tank.

Run the hose outside on the ground.

Open the drain valve on the tank.

Release the pressure relief valve on top of the tank.

Allow the water in the tank to drain out.

Once tank has drained, open cold water valve to flush out sediment.

Close the drain valve and pressure relief valve.

Remove the hose from the drain valve.

    Allow the tank to fill.

Turn the power back on or relight the pilot light.

Release the valves on top....screw on a looooonnnnng garden hose. to faucet at bottom of heater....run hose out nearest window or door that is lower than the hot water heater. Gravity helps to drain it.

Yours is gas and there should be a floor drain nearby so you don't need to run the hose outside. That copper pipe on the front and center is for the pressure relief valve. If you follow the pipe, it will end at the floor drain. Follow the other steps in the other posts, but just run to the floor drain
