Pinterest.com should have ideas and instructions for this... you could also start with a stepping stone kit... shop Amazon, Michael's, Walmart, or you local home improvement store

Mix concrete to a consistency that will not harden quickly, and put into a form that is the shape you want. (Forms can be made using scrap boards foam, inside bottoms of ice cream pails, or waste baskets.) Before concrete dries put in pieces of the broken china on top of the wet cement with the sharp edges down and let dry. The next day remove the form and ready to go.

Here's a DIY on how to do it! https://lovelygreens.com/diy-sea-glass-stepping-stone/ - they used Sea glass but any type of broken china would work as well. Just make sure if you do use broken china that you watch to make sure no sharp sides could cut bare feet!

San, Hello! :) I just recently found a "new" way (for me) to make stepping stones that involves a method I had not heard of before called the INDIRECT method. I saved the link to the instructions because my grandchildren and I are going to make some this summer (I can't wait!) and I totally love this way as opposed to the old way. Much better results! :) SO with that being said, here is the post I am saving to review again a few days before the kids decide it's time to make them ;) Have a ball making memories and stepping stones with your granddaughter :)

Ive helped doing this last year but there is one thing that they should tell you. Get a bigger pan ! Those pans are great for cakes but not what you are doing. Too small ! All that beautiful work but way too small.

There are forms that you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes..... and fill them with quick set cement to make stepping stones or pavers. She can even put her hand print in them! You can get a pigment to make them different colors, too. Have fun!

I love the link, in one of the answers, to use a cake pan! Fantastic idea. I'm going to be doing this!
