Depends on if you have shade and if your soil was farmland before. Bermuda for the sunny areas. But, the seeds must be kept in very damp soil till its at least 2 inches tall. After it's established, It will turn brown in the dry heat unless its kept wet. But, it will turn green again when the weather cools.

I'd ask at a LOCAL nursery (not big-box store) to see if there are better choises.

RED FLAG! I would definitely not suggest Bermuda, St. Augustine, or any other invasive, non-native grasses, especially these! Both Bermuda grass and St. Augustine are water suckers and the last place to plant water suckers is in a place prone to periods of drought, such as the Rio Grande Valley. There are hardy native rye grasses that look beautiful, are hardy, grow all year-long, and are easy to mow. Creeping, deep and superficial rootstock invasive grasses grow and spread horizontally rather than vertically, making them difficult to mow and trim. In addition, Bermuda, St. Augustine, & related grasses prevent other benign, nutrient-rich plants from thriving, so therefore, Bermuda, St. Augustine & such grasses not only deplete the soil of moisture, they deplete the soil of nutrients. Have you ever walked barefoot on St. Augustine grass? I can say, that for me, it's not a pleasant experience.
Contact your County Extension Agent's office for free advice and info about what will work the best in your area. Sometimes they'll even analyze soil samples to advise how you can add ingredients to amend your soil.
