Fix dog “highway “ in backyard

How do you get rid of a bare patch on the lawn due to kids and dogs continually walking on it? It’s been completely compacted and the not even a stray weed in it! We’ve tried fencing it off and also reseeding and at one point using sod. (When doing that we loosened the soil, amended it and blocked it off for upwards of 3 months. We’ve also used repellents to try and keep dogs away. Unfortunately it’s right in the middle of my backyard and o can’t really ignore it

Create a path for them using pavers, stones or mulch. You could even try making some garden edging along the pathway in areas if they usually don't stay off the paths. Pavers will probably work they best as they will not migrate off the path as much or stones or gravel will. You could even create your own with cement and those templates that you can get at Menards, etc., those look like stepping stones. I have the same problems, but my paths are on the steep hills of tiers and everything likes to follow gravity and causes problems.

I built a deck, fenced it in, stapled fake grass carpet down and they can go out dog door straight onto deck. Pick up dog poop and hose down deck

There are grasses that are meant to withstand heavy play and traffic, did you try one of them? Funny story: A friend had a spot like that, too, which drove her husband crazy. She finally said to him, what are we raising, kids or grass? Maybe you could make it a focal point, with an island garden or a free-form paver patio?
