IIs all the wood dark, or could you paint your ceiling
paint is the least expensive option.
I agree, paint. If you want to leave the wood, you could sand it and use a lighter stain...depending on the type of wood it is.
Wood ceilings can be painted out to brighten them up. You may need to use a good primer like Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 and then your finish coat. You can tint the primer if you decide to use color rather than the white.
You might add some light color accents using different items ...of course there is always paint but would you want to do that with all that wood? Maybe not! Guess I'm not much help!
DIYnetwork.com or HGTV.com or Pinterest.com are good places to check out... lots of ideas there... and you would get visuals on how your space would look if you painted between ceiling beams, painted the whole ceiling, painted the paneling... etc...etc... print off the looks you like to compare side by side... make a "story board" once you decide... to keep the ideas and choices clear in your mind..... find what you like and adapt it to YOUR space.
