Michelle, start small with some baskets filled with blankets, wild flowers, or something you've always admired. A real farm house was about the simple life and having just what you need and using everything you have. Then feed your soul with small and simple touches.
Don't forget the wooden porch rockers or porch swing!

...ship lap walls (some painted white, some left rustic...your choice)
...barn doors (used as window covers too instead of curtains!)
...beadboard
...distressed furnishings...everything from galvanized small oval buckets for skinks to rusty corrugated tin for ceilings!!!
...ship lap tinted with grays, greens, etc., for an accent wall or fireplace covering. (Back away ordinance required distance from opening and use tile instead of wood near opening)
...Rustic, barnwood style mantel over fireplace.
Strip of ship lap behind the toilet is popular...sometimes painted white and sometimes left distressed.
